Eden McDowell is an installation and object based sculptor living and working between Peaks Island and Portland, Maine. She will receive her BFA in sculpture from the Maine College of Art in the Spring of 2017. McDowell has shown her work at the Institute of Contemporary Art in Portland, Maine, the Maine College of Art Annual BFA show, and the Gal_lery, a non-profit gallery space in Manchester, New Hampshire. She recently has been selected to join the 2017 Thesis Curatorial Team at Maine College of Art and has been nominated among her department to be featured in the Maine Home + Design magazine on behalf of MECAmorphosis: The Fashion Show + 2017 Thesis Exhibition editorial.
Her sculptural practice currently resides on the small island of Peaks, just miles off the shore of downtown Portland. Finding inspiration from her life among the Casco Bay and urban landscapes, McDowell harvests her surroundings into a sculptural context that evokes history, architecture, and materiality.
